PTA Connection 01/27/2012
I am so excited about all the families that ordered Chief Joe t-shirts and sweatshirts! It will be fun to see a sea of Chief Joe images in the halls on Fridays. So far our staff has been showing their school pride – thank you so much for that! When you get your t-shirt or sweatshirt be sure to wear it on Friday to show how much you care about your school. We will have some money to provide scholarship t-shirts to families in need; just talk to Ms.Witherspoon.
After school Arts and Sciences classes are trucking right along, and the kids are having a ball. Thank you to all of the stellar volunteers who are making it all happen. The kids get picked up from class by a volunteer at 3, then head to the cafeteria for snack and some downtime. Then from 3:30 to 4:30 its art, drama, band, and science fun. Our arts and sciences chairperson, volunteers and teachers have made this an incredibly successful program so far. We have 181 students participating and are well within our budget. Great job to Anne Swanson, Jeff Miholer and the whole committee.
If you want to be involved in the Night of Magic Benefit Auction on April 27th, you are invited to join in our next committee meeting on Friday the 27th of January at the Lucky Lab on Killingsworth. We’d love to have your ideas, input and energy.
Our next PTA general meeting will be on February 14th. Show your love for the PTA by coming to the meeting on Valentine’s Day! Jess Thompson will present a workshop on the OAKS test. Be prepared to answer a question or two. And in March, Conrad Hurdle from Ockley Green School will return to continue our great conversation about building bridges between Chief Joe and Ockley Green. Take advantage of Mr. Hurdle’s Mini Tours every Friday in Feburary at 10AM and 1PM. I plan to.
